The victim alleged that the wife of the accused supported her husband in the crime and also threatened her to not reveal about the incident.
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by her neighbour and his accomplice for 20 days at Jamalpur in Ludhiana.
The police on Thursday arrested accused Adil (32) and his wife Noorjahan of Hardev Nagar and registered a case under Sections 376 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Two more persons, identified as Adil’s accomplice Suresh Kumar and Kamal Kumar, were also booked.
In her complaint, the victim said she had befriended Adil as he was a frequent visitor at her home. “On April 12, he called me to a nearby railway station to meet him,” she said. The victim said Adil and his friend Suresh took her home, locked her in a room and gangraped her. “The accused held me captive and raped for 20 days,” she told police.
She added that Noorjahan supported her husband in the crime and also threatened her to not reveal about the incident. She added that Adil had not told her about his marital status.
The victim said she managed to escape from the room on Wednesday and informed the police.
Sub-inspector Avtar Singh, Jamalpur police station SHO, said a hunt was on for the arrest of other accused.
