A mother of a engineering student alleged that her daughter was forcibly converted to Islam.

Kochi, July 21: A mother of a engineering student alleged that her daughter was forcibly converted to Islam. In her complaint, Mini Vijayan alleged that her daughter Aparna, who had changed her name to Shahana, was forced to convert to Islam. However when the police produced Aparna before court she refused the charges of forced conversion.

After Mini filed police complaint, cops located her daughter Aparna in Kozhikode. “The police produced Aparna before the high court where she refused to go with her parents and chose to stay with Sumayya, the woman who accompanied her to the court,” Mini was quoted as saying by Times of India. Aparna, was a student of Jual Education Trust in Ernakulam, is currently staying at Sathya Sarani, an institute which aims to propagate Islam among non-Muslims.

“Though she used to be in touch with me earlier, she went incommunicado ever since the case of Nimisha appeared in the media,” Mini said. Conversion of a Hindu girl Nimisha alias Fathima, who recently went missing along with 20 others from Kerala, drew a lot of media attention recently. The police seemed helpless as Aparna had willing chose to be with those who converted her to Islam.
