As the terror group fled its former stronghold of Mosul, Iraq, the jihadi dumped the boy in the rubble – and then lay in wait to pick off any rescuers
A HEARTLESS ISIS fighter used his own newborn baby son as BAIT as part of a sick plot to take out enemy fighters, it has been revealed.
As the terror group fled its former stronghold of Mosul, Iraq, the jihadi dumped the boy in the rubble and then lay in wait to pick off any rescuers.
Those now working to rebuild the lives of those who lived through the horrors the city endured have described the incident as one of the “biggest crimes of ISIS”.
The shocking incident was revealed by Sukaina Ali Younis, who now runs an orphanage in Mosul, in an interview with the Telegraph.
“ISIS left him on the ground as bait to lure Iraqi soldiers,” she said. “Three soldiers went to rescue the child and a sniper shot and killed them all.”
The Iraqi army sent in a tank, but before it could get to the tot, a starving dog ran up and dragged him away by the arm.
Soldiers managed to pull the dog off, but his wounds became infected and his hand had to be amputated later in hospital.
The little boy – named Hamoudi – is now one and is being looked after at the Al-Zahour Centre in the north of the city..
His carers say it was his own father who left him in the Old City as bait for the Iraqi army.
The carers say he still suffers nightmares following his ordeal.
Many of the children at the centre were found wandering around an abandoned fairground near the banks of the River Tigris that runs through Mosul, eating scraps of food from the dirt.
Others were dropped anonymously at refugee camps by civilians scared of being seen as sympathetic to the jihadists.
ISIS enlisted thousands of children into its schools and training camps, in a radicalisation process so wide-reaching it is without parallel in contemporary history.
Millions more were exposed to their ideology for as long as four years and could take some time to adjust.
